This afternoon I am heading to the world famous Skippers Canyon north of Queenstown with the great Gravity Action mountain biking agency. My guide is Dave and our group is composed of only 4 people which makes it almost private! Prices for this tour are the best in town: 129$ only and it's a great price for the value. I get down a small track along the canyon and got some great views. We passed huts and pub' ruins from the gold mining era. Our guide had many good stories about this history. We crossed a few streams, got our feets wet and it was very good fun. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere makes this tour a must! I would recommend it. As we were quite fast, we did the tour twice and we then headed for another road ovelooking the Shotover River. We stopped at the spot where some action was filmed for the Lord of teh Ring at the location of a huge vertical cliff whre Gandalf falled after the battle with the orks. Great! Then, I flew for only 50$ with an heli : ) First time and some good action as the heli passed through the canyon over the Shotover river. We saw some goats from above and it was good fun. |
