Today I am going to bungy with A.J. Hackett at the world's first commercial bungy site (since November 1988). It's my first time and I choosed this 43 meter high bungy jump over a scenic river canyon from the Kawarau bridge.
Waiting for the minibus in the Queentyown office, I am impressed as how Bungy jumping is a precise science: on one screen, one guy jumps from several dozens of meters and succeed to touch with the hands the 21st century looking building roof! You can just adjust your jump length at a few mm. Ok, a whole team of about 6 guys are up the bridge and I got my anckles quickly tight with a towel and a rope. My weight at this time was of 71kg and they had to change bungy as I went after a few light weight girls. I took the fantastic option to touch the water until below my shoulders. Then, I stand up and 1..2..3.. go! Yaaaa!! acceleration, speed, adrenaline and then slowly diving in the water: that's my best dive and it was 46m high. Then I got a few more rebounce and time to watch the amazing canyon scenerary.

I recommend you to do it! It's very easy and any people can do it: I met one guy: he was 65 year old and he did bungy jumping for the first time too!
It's really exciting, amazing and so easy! Many people buy the pictures and dvd and you get a free genuine t-shirt. There was a nice shop and other things to do in the dome at the site but the minibus was already going... What you can do if you want to stay more is to stay at the dome and get a tramp to Queenstown as people come with there own car. |
