Today is a beautiful sunny day and I am going fishing for salmon and trout with Stu Dever aboard the 'Chinook'.
Fishing in Queenstown is the only way to eat a trout. The law is that you can only eat what you fish. It's seems that it's forbidden to sell a fish! Even in a restaurant!
We went to the Frankton Marina where the depth is 100 feet and we started the fishing with a few lines and we let go 350 feets of line. There is a Canadian made device which tells you when you got a fish. Quickly after that one of two other passengers catched a nice 2.5 pounds brown trout, soon after aI got a catch but as at this season the trouts' mouth are quite fragile, I lost it. No problem: I got another catch a few minutes later. This is the most enjoyable fishing experience I had and I am sure to have a good dinner with a fresh fish now!

We then catched a salmon but it was a bit small and we let it go back to the lake :-) Stu Dever is a registered fishing guide originally from London with over 20 years fishing experience. He is a very cool guy and we had a very good time.
I you want to have a good time on the lake and have some fun catching a fish or two, I would recommend you to go to this beautiful 2 hour fishing trip which cost only 100NZ$ including the fishing license. |
