Today I am travelling with a Real Journeys coach from Te Anau to Milford Sound.

This famous and scenic road is called The Milford Road. It's New Zealand's remotest highway.

The coach is really good with a glass roof specially designed for the alpine views.

Our coach heads north and follows Te Anau lake until the northern end of the lake.

Our first scenic stop is at the Mirror Lake. There was a little bit of wind so it was not a perfect mirror.

Our driver shared her knowledge of the area and had very interesting stories of previous snow avalanches, tree avalanches, etc. In particular, she told us that a few years ago there was a tree avalanche that blocked the road for 3 days and the hundreds of tourists that were blocked in Milford drank out the Milford pub supplies!

The road to Milford Sound then offers dense rainforest, towering mountains, glaciers views and a massive U shapped vertical cliff and silvered colored granite valley after the Homer Tunnel. It's really unique and a must see!

We make a stop after the tunnel to enjoy the scenary and there was 2 more keas on the side of the road.
