Ahipara is located at the southernmost section of Ninety Miles beach, 14 km south of Kaitaia.

There is a good surf spot known all over New Zealand here (as far as Dunedin, South Island).

It's a good place to stay as a basis to explore Cape Reinga and the 70m high Sand Dunes.

On the way, don't miss the impressive Ancient Kauri Tree Kingdom. A huge kauri log has a spiral stairway carved into it that takes you to the upper level!

Cape Reinga is located at the top of the 116km long Aupouri Peninsula.

This is a view of the Cape Maria Van Dienmen from the back road leading to Cap Reinga.

This is my second time to Cape reinga (see my article on Cape Reinga) so I decided to explore a a little more of the area by walking to the amazing beach below.

I recommend you to go there as it has an end of the world feeling and fishes are easily found jumping on the rocks (well there was one at least). Blue pinguins can be spotted too.
