Today we are going on a relaxing and stunning Milford Sound Cruise with
Real Journeys.

The cruise terminus is impressive, allegedly handling around 6,000
people per day at its peak!
Milford Sound was mistakenly named Sound by the early European settlers
and is actually a fiord. According
to the definition, a ‘fiord' is a long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between
steep slopes. The Milford Sound Cruise is one of the most popular natural tourist attractions
on the South Island and incontestably a
must-do if you're in the area.

This Milford Sound Cruise takes us through the fjord to the Tasman Sea before turning around and coming back in.
There must be about 100 people on board but with views in all directions and
seats for everyone, we find the cruise to be really comfortable and relaxing. The
commentary is entertaining and informative at the same time and goes well with
the tranquillity of the cruise.

Just as we had anticipated, the scenery proves to be awesome. The
presence of peaks stretching up around us makes us feel very small. The
breathtaking Mitre
Peak is the most famous
of all peaks of the Milford Fiord with its paramount-pictures-icon-like look
and original shape. Due to the season, it is totally devoid of snow.
The reflection of the steep green slopes and snow peaks in the deep blue
of the water as well as the stunning waterfalls make this trip a really
enjoyable one.

You are also most certain to observe some seals on the way
All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience out in the fjord that
none of the photos we took can really capture. If you really want to grasp the
vertical scale involved, the best still is to go discover the beauty of the
Sounds yourself!
